Meg Gardiner doesn’t waste any time jumping right into the action with INTO THE BACK NOWHERE. I love how lean her writing is and how she focuses on the meat of the story, sprinkling enough FBI procedural, profiling and intimate looks into her character’s lives to keep you hooked.
What I enjoyed about INTO THE BLACK NOWHERE that’s it more of a cat-and-mouse game than a mystery. FBI Profiler Caitlin Hendrix faces off a serial killer who is not only cunning and sadistic but handsome and charming. The most fascinating part of the story was when Caitlin lets a suspect past her psychological walls to prove he’s the serial killer and the consequences she has to face within herself when she does. It was one of the most emotional parts of the book. The climax had me riveted to the pages, and I couldn’t put it down until I knew how it ended.
If you’re looking for a riveting thriller based upon real serial killers read INTO THE BLACK NOWHERE. Meg Gardiner does a beautiful job of explaining profiling while keeping the story’s action and pace moving to where you never feel bored or want to skip pages. I’m a big fan now and look forward to reading her other novels.
